It’s not for the cock, it’s for the lady gardens

Gwen Stefani

Recently I have had some delightful musical surprises that I feel I only appreciate as deeply as I do because of my gender. So, as the only female writer for this phallic ridden music blog I have decided to post some treats from some great female acts to celebrate these aforementioned surprises.

Firstly, on a whim recently a friend and I recently purchased ourselves tickets to see Gwen Stefani at Wembly Arena this September. If the promise of the ultimate booty shaking, Harajuku bopping and certainly show stopping gig isn’t enough then get ready to throw your purses ladies! The support comes from CSS, the Brazilian act taking the world by storm this yeah with their more than respectable debut Cansei de Ser Sexy. CSS will also be appearing at the only date of the Ibiza Rocks Festival to coincide with my end of school holiday. They play the ten thousand strong Manumission on July 10th with many more acts and DJs to be confirmed.

That’s enough of my bragging. I’m sure you’ll agree it’s time to share the love. As the album tracks by Gwen Stefani and the lovely CSS are hardly difficult to come by I will treat you to my favorite remixes. Firstly the fantastic reworking of ‘Wind It Up’ by the currently unstoppable Kissy Sell Out. If, like many, you’re not a fan of the yodelling on this track then this is defiantly the remix for you. They’ve kept the musical theme to this track while dropping the yodeling, giving it a more hip hop flavour and making the most of Gwen’s velvety vocals. Now for CSS, as I’m seeing them twice in two very different circumstances I’ve decided to treat you to two very different remixes. The first is by RAC (Remix Artist Collective) and is a bass driven reworking of recent re-release ‘Lets Make Love and Listen to Death From Above’ which actually manages to rival the original. The second is a remix by Princess Superstar of ‘Alala’ which I think just feels like a 6 minute build up to nothing and isn’t a patch on the original. However, this track has received much love in the world of music blogging so I’ve decided it’s worth posting, let me know what you think.

CSS- Alala (Princess Superstar Remix)

CSS- Lets Make Love and Listen to Death From Above (RAC Remix)

Gwen Stefani- Wind it Up (Kissy Sell Out Remix)Â

I think i couldn’t be more excited if i tried now as i’m attending both of those! ‘Ultimate booty shaking’ a plenty, i promise. Nice blogging woman, but i don’t feel ‘that’s enough bragging’ applies to either of us, as we definately have the right to bum on about it. xxxx
