It’s not for the cock, it’s for nothing special.

The support tonight comes from American singer songwriter Jacob Golden who does nothing to deviate from the stigma attached to that label. While
England has seen some original and diverse males, such as Jamie T and Jack Penate, break this year, Golden leans more towards the middle of the road, James Blunt style. His set does have it’s moments but the greatness of his last song is ruined by the fact most of the room have been waiting for it just so the set can end. While there is no distinguishable fault with his set it just seems there’s no longer room for an acoustic set sung with closed eyes and about French girls and numerous other clichés.

When Air Traffic take to the stage tonight they do little to raise the standards set before them. While they do have a more original, jazz inspired sound than their support, they do little to impress. Their strengths all lie in singer and pianist, Chris Wall who is by no means used to his full potential. The sound is imbalanced and Chris’ fantastic voice in drowned out by the entirely unimpressive guitars. The band even fail to make anything of their boy band style image and barely talk to the willing audience and when they do they come across as nervous and shy. Hits such as
Charlotte’
and ‘Shooting Star’ still manage to evoke enthusiastic cheers from the audience but are by no means given the performance they deserve. The band’s album is set to be a hit of the summer but without the live skills to back it up it’s unlikely they’ll ever progress past a debut.

If you still want to check Air Traffic out they’ll be playing the Latitude Festival.

Their debut album ‘Fractured Life’ is out now.
