Dananananaykroyd, Tubelord and Favours For Sailors/The Lexington/12.11.08
Gigs where even the local support band are something to get excited about are few and far between but on this non-descript Wednesday night The Lexington is hosting one and London based four piece Favours For Sailors are most certainly that band.

Brontide Interview
Brontide are a new band who, although all originating from various different places, reside in Brighton and create a stomping, mathy web of complex guitar lines, intricate bass stabs and monstrous drums. They may have only been going “seriously” as a band for a few months, but have already carved out their own particular sound and all the members have experience from various other projects. Drummer William Bowerman, formerly of (sadly fairly short lived) Nottingham band, I Was A Cub Scout, was kind enough to answer some of my questions via email after a failed meet up. Consume the words…

Rose Kemp is a powerfully voiced singer/songwriter currently based Bristol whose latest release ‘Unholy Magesty’ hit It’s Not For The Cock’s ears recently courtesy of One Little Indian. Big riffs, delicate yet striking keys and an almost unimaginably unique vocal performance make both the album and artist enticingly curios concepts. Luckily we were able to somewhat satisfy this curiosity by posing some of our questions to the artist herself. Read the rest of this entry »

The Wave Pictures interview.
For around a decade now the charmingly emotive pop trio The Wave Pictures have worked their way through a selection of drummers whilst occasionally managing the odd burst of touring. Since changing their base to London the band have found themselves a home at moshi moshi records and have released the album ‘Instant Coffee Baby’, E.P. ‘Just Like A Drummer’ and numerous singles. Since this union the trio have also been almost constantly touring finding themselves as far a field as New York. So what do the band think about all of this? Singer and Guitarist David Tattersall kindly answers some of our questions. Read the rest of this entry »

Kings of Leon
In these days of disposable music and ever evolving fashion, it takes a certain kind of band to steadily improve throughout their career to become stadium filling giants with their integrity still intact.

The Twilight Sad and Broken Records/The Bodega Social/18.06.08
It took less than three months for Scottish indie shoegazers The Twilight Sad to grace Nottingham’s Bodega Social since their last tour and this time around they’ve brought fellow Scots, Broken Records, with them. The seven piece band take to The Bodega’s tiny stage with the greatest of ease carrying a variety of instruments with them making the audience eager and wide eyed before a note is even played. Between them the band make a grand, Arcade Fire like, sound which not only expands the tiny room they’ve found themselves in tonight but also justifies the large amount of industry hype currently bubbling beneath them. Patrick Watson, John Peel stage Glastonbury Festival, 27/06/08
As the countdown to Glastonbury Festival begins so do the lists of thousands of festival goers deciding which performances they will grace with their unwashed presence during the five day festival. After years of bad weather, poor organisation and (supposedly) an increasingly middle aged audience Glastonbury was looking more and more unstable atop its festival pedestal. It was this very pedestal from which it humiliatingly fell from the day компютриEmily and Michael Eavis confirmed rumors that Kings Of Leon, Jay Z and The Verve would headline the 2008 festival.
