Any indie music enthusiast worth their salt will have had British Sea Power come onto their music radar since they formed in 2000. They are the kind of act you’ll either show a certain amount of indifference towards or for whom you’ll thrown all you rationality, cynicism and even expertise to the harrowing and powerful winds of the mainstream and become a dedicated and avid fan.
The Courteeners, Nottingham Rescue Rooms 21/01/2008
The Courteeners have been hailed in a number of hot tips for 2008 lists and are increasingly touted as a new hope, a great new band to believe in again. The magazines say they’re taking the torch passed on by previous Manchester guitar bands- like a brutish Smiths or an intellectual Oasis. So, tonight at Rescue Rooms, the question is, can they cut it?

With the support being two local Sheffield bands and the majority of the crowd coming to watch Pistola Kicks, it was going to be hard for We are the Physics to impress the home fans.

The modern musical world is defined by many different things, from stodgy Everyman rock to tight trousered, flashing rave music via carefully constructed, arty indie. Although the range of sounds is diverse, most bands try to keep things to the point, without making their songs out stay their welcome. So, is there much time for a gig with a line up compromising of shoe-gave bordering on prog?
Ok, so we’ve waved goodbye to 2007 and blogs all over the UK are getting rapidly updated due to the procrastination of students everywhere and INFTC is damned if it’s going to miss out on the action. We’ve all had our Christmas break and now we’re back with a new member and a round-up of the best, and worst, music we experienced in 2007; and anyone who even thinks of uttering the word ‘late’ gets a kick in the teeth!
As a music blog we get sent ALOT of music and this is the first time I’ve found something that I think is worth giving to you. That’s not to say that the rest of what we get sent is rubbish, although a fair amount is, but this is the first time we’ve got something that I think we’d cover if we’d found it somewhere else and it’s by a group who clearly have potential.
